The National Rehabilitation Center “Nezlamni” / UNBROKEN is one of the most striking examples in Ukraine of the fact that saving lives in war does not end in the operating room or at the stage of stabilization of the condition. It has formed a holistic system of assistance to people who suffered during the war: from emergency treatment to reconstructive surgery, prosthetics, physical, psychological and psychosocial rehabilitation, as well as the return of a person to a full life. The center operates as a multidisciplinary ecosystem of recovery, where adults and children, military personnel and civilians receive free assistance, and prostheses for patients are made directly on site. Within the ecosystem, conditions have also been created for the residence of patients’ families, which enhances not only the medical but also the human dimension of recovery. That is why the activities of UNBROKEN are not an isolated case of assistance, but the embodiment of a new humanistic paradigm, in which a person is saved not only from death, but also from the loss of dignity, movement, independence and future.

The Center provides a full cycle of medical care: emergency treatment, reconstructive surgery, orthopedics, prosthetics, physical, psychological and psychosocial rehabilitation. In this way, it strengthens not only a separate segment of rehabilitation, but the entire healthcare system of Ukraine, demonstrating that modern war medicine should lead a person from rescue to restoration of functionality, mental balance and return to a full life. The significance of the Center also lies in the fact that it forms new standards of comprehensive care for the wounded and injured in Ukraine and creates a practical model important for the development of the entire sphere of medical rehabilitation.

The National Rehabilitation Center “Unbreakable” / UNBROKEN is the embodiment of the team model of saving and restoring a person. A multidisciplinary team of specialists works here, uniting surgeons, traumatologists, orthopedists, prosthetists, physical therapists, psychologists and other specialists around one goal – not just to save a person, but to help them live again. It is the team nature of work that makes UNBROKEN one of the strongest examples of new humanistic medicine in wartime: it combines treatment, recovery, support, family support, reintegration and the return of a person to society.
