On March 28, 2026, a UAV hit the building of maternity hospital No. 5 in Odesa. Fortunately, before the hit, the medical staff managed to organize the evacuation of our patients from all floors to the bomb shelter. The explosion occurred on the roof, very powerful, it destroyed the roof, the ceiling between the 4th and 3rd floors, and a fire started. Doctors, obstetricians-gynecologists, anesthesiologists used fire hoses, fire hoses, fire extinguishers and extinguished the fire on the 4th and 3rd floors. One of our obstetricians-gynecologists was forced to climb to the roof using the fire escape and continued to extinguish the fire from above, because the source of the fire was on the roof. During the attack, there were 27 medical staff, 32 patients, and 22 newborns in the maternity hospital.

The incident took place in a medical facility, namely a maternity hospital, where up to 3,000 deliveries are performed per year, almost 5,000 patients are treated annually, and complex gynecological laparoscopic surgeries are performed. The facility employs 300 medical professionals.

The team includes doctors, paramedics, and technical staff. Their professionalism, courage, bravery, and sense of responsibility for the lives of patients were stronger than the fear of death. During their organized firefighting operations, the Shahada attack continued, with the next Shahadas maneuvering directly above the heads of the doctors.
