The Chernivtsi community became the only local community in the world that, in the conditions of a full-scale war, performed a world theatrical premiere and revived after 250 years of oblivion the pearl of classical music by the Ukrainian composer Dmytro Bortnyansky - the opera "Creon" (1776).

The importance of this work is fundamental: written in Venice long before the Great French Revolution, it became the first revolutionary manifesto in the history of world opera, where the central theme is the overthrow of despotism, the triumph of law and the right of man to freedom. The return of this score, which was considered lost and was found in Lisbon, fundamentally destroys the imperial myth of the "secondaryness" of Ukrainian culture. It proves that Bortnyansky formed the pan-European context on a par with Mozart, and the desire for democracy is embedded in the Ukrainian code at the basic level. The scale of the event provided it with the personal patronage of the Director-General of UNESCO, which happened for the first time in the organization's history regarding an initiative by a local community in a country at war.

This is an act of mental and spiritual healing of the nation, restoration of its historical code and cultural health. In times when the aggressor directs resources to the physical and mental destruction of Ukrainians, preserving psychological stability through high art is a form of protecting the vitality of society. The return of Bortniansky's European heritage heals the historical trauma of inferiority and de-occupies Ukrainian culture from centuries of foreign layers.

The Chernivtsi community, the leadership of Bukovina, the staff of the Chernivtsi Academic Music and Drama Theater named after O. Kobylyanska, and diplomatic circles acted as subjects of people's diplomacy. They united the efforts of international institutions (UNESCO, Europa Nostra), scientists, and philanthropists, proving that Ukrainian regions are capable of returning to the world its forgotten humanistic heritage and setting global trends.
